For many local families, the long rainy winter months are the most difficult time of the year.  Adding to their difficulty is the fact that the holiday season arrives and these struggling families are without holiday food or gifts to celebrate the holiday season with their family.

An opportunity to sponsor struggling neighbors for the holidays

Enter Holiday Basket Bureau, a project that connects private sponsors with families, children, seniors and people with disabilities for holiday food.  The success of the program is based on the generosity of our community members, and each year we witness inspiring acts of generosity and kindness that sustain many into the new year.  Students at Cascade High School in Everett for example are crazy about their  annual holiday food drive, this is their 45th year and running.  The effort is so successful that students can adopt over 120 families, and personally deliver and greet each one with Christmas gifts, holiday food and more than two weeks of groceries.  Wow.

Thanks to donors like the Cascade High students, last year we provided over 5,000 individuals with holiday food and gifts.  What a blessing for those families who were touched!   Unfortunately, this success is overshadowed by those left unmatched and empty-handed, nearly double the number that we helped.
